LAFAYETTE — Faith House is partnered with The Family Justice Center of Acadiana and Voices of Acadiana to host an afternoon of empowerment, support, and advocacy.
The Spirit of Hope Luncheon was held at The Cecil Picard Center on Monday and featured four local domestic violence survivors.
The survivors shared their personal journeys of surviving abuse and finding hope. The issue of domestic violence has an effect on everyone in our Acadiana community.
“Everyone attending this event can take away a little bit of hope. Hope that there is an opportunity to be free from abuse and violence and that better lives can be built with the support of one another,” said Billi Lacombe Executive Director of Faith House.
Organizers say that the survivors show how “this horrible injustice transcends race, gender, age, and social status.” Faith House provides support services when dealing with domestic violence. They say they help over 2000 individuals each year who are looking to escape harmful relationships.
