The Staten Island District Attorney is getting the word out that there are still resources for those living with their abusers. Attorneys and victim advocates are still working in the office and from home. Family Justice Centers throughout the five boroughs are still available to help people find shelter, plan ahead and navigate family court. D.A. Domestic Violence Bureau Chief Victoria Levin says abusers can become more aggressive as they face the financial, family and health stressors that come along with quarantining.
“It’s an incredibly challenging time and we want people to know that there is a huge network of resources and people who are here to support you,” said Levin.
If it is an emergency, you should still call 911.
