MISSOULA, Mont. – A 39-year-old western Montana man is charged with strangling a woman, causing her to lose consciousness and later suffer a stroke.
Jacob Anthony Nicholls of Frenchtown is charged with felony aggravated assault for the attack early Wednesday. He made an initial appearance in Justice Court on Thursday, where his bail was set at $200,000. He did not enter a plea.
Charging documents say the woman said she was awakened by Nicholls yelling at her. She said he strangled her, held a pillow over her face and threatened to kill her.
Two other people who were at the home heard the attack and called 911.
When deputies arrived the woman ran out of the house and was shaking uncontrollably before becoming disoriented. Doctors determined she suffered a stroke due to the strangulation.
