A jury in Anchorage found a man guilty of strangling his 4-year-old foster child.
Jason R. Madison, 40, was convicted Wednesday in Anchorage Superior Court on four assault charges for strangling the child with a belt.
According to a release, prosecutors presented evidence that Madison put a belt around the child’s neck and applied pressure, causing injuries and abrasions that were noticed by the child’s teacher. The teacher contacted authorities.
“The treating forensic nurse testified at trial that the child potentially faced a substantial risk of death,” the release states.
Madison could face up to 20 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for March 2020. He will be held without bail until then.
