EastChase turns parking lot into drive-in movie theater

    August 11, 2020

    Story By: Brad Harper

Get ready to go back in time.

The Shoppes at EastChase in Montgomery, one of Alabama’s busiest shopping centers, is once again turning a section of its parking lot into a drive-in movie theater for a screening of “Back to the Future” on Aug. 27. Admission is $10 per vehicle, with proceeds benefiting One Place Family Justice Center.

“Our first drive-in movie in May sold out in a matter of minutes, so we’re excited to bring the event back, just in time for the end of summer,” said center spokeswoman Suzanna Wasserman of Crawford Square Real Estate Advisors. “The movie will give our community an opportunity to get out and enjoy quality family time in a safe environment, as well raise awareness for One Place Family Justice Center.”

Tickets must be purchased in advance at theshoppesateastchase.com.

The movie will start at sunset, or about 7 p.m. in an area of the parking lot near Dillard’s. People are being asked to bring their own food and remain in their cars for the event. The center’s restaurants are planning discounts for moviegoers.

The movie’s audio will be played on outdoor speakers and streamed by a local radio station, according to a release from the center.

One Place functions as a clearinghouse of services for victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse and elder abuse. You can see more at oneplacefjc.org.
